Day 31 of 182 - one month done, five more to go...

  • Cycled 5miles
  • Zumba one hour
mrs.e at work tried to deny me luxury double chocolate cookies
ate half a piri piri chicken with chips round katherine and maisie's this evening

it's looking more and more likely that operation fit and healthy is going to need me to make some changes to my diet. or mabes even go on a diet. sigh.

Day 30 of 182 belated weigh day!

oooh, i'm off out for dinner tonight - i best weigh myself now...

NOTHING! i have lost nothing!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek... 18 sleeps till america and HUGE portion sizes and i still need to lose loads.

fab day - woke up far too early for a bank holiday but used the time wisely.
FINISED MY LAST UNI PIECE.
FINISHED UNI!

celebtrated by going to the gym
then bought new pots and did some gardening

the lovely p&k round for tea which turned into lunch.

then more gardening, a bit of telly and now just waiting for my lift to lyndhurst to eat chinese.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! 7 minutes left of today to post.

well...

  1. i lifted 4 bags of compost - 60litres - about 20steps from outside b&q to a's car
  2. i cycled 2.2miles
  3. i walked up the road and back
  4. i had a dance at the edge

Day 28 of 182

2nd session with  my personal trainer dan - fab.
just over an hour, felt great at the end.
loads of sweat!

and lots of "just 5 more liz"
or "you can do it, two more liz, just two and now one"

ummm... not much else really today.
watched F1 qualifying, miss marple, dr.who and now footballs on.

done some laundry, been to lidls.

am now eating cheese and chives potato snacks

Day 27 of 182

a bit of work related cycling = 2.6miles

went to the gym & followed my training plan even though i really really really wanted to stop running on the treadmill after 10mins....

but i kept going = another hour done.

i still cant remember how to do the dorsal raises or the hip flexor stretch... luckily i've got dan tomorrow at 11.30am so can ask him then.

exciting stuff - a whole new session to go through tomorrow. i'm becoming a gym rat!

Day 25 of 182

so... i certainly have loose weight about me - i can feel it jumbling and flomping about my frame. however, i actually want to / need to lose weight.
thanks "correct use of the english language" chums for pointing out my rather loose use of lose.

now. back to operation f&h.

  • cycled - 3.6miles
    • at the bargate today they were doing free bike services - my bike is fine apart from the fact its filthy.i can't change gear cogs because i have so much grot clagging up the mechanism it's like i've poured cement in there. ooops. and eeeek.
  • gym - did session one on my own -
    • bloody hell - 45mins, dripping with sweat (nice) but i did it and i feel pretty darn good.

meant to go to the gym today but didnt finish work till 8.30 and needed to eat.

luckily Monday is major cycling day at work = 9.2miles

plus tomorrow is Uni and Zumba so should be doing 8+ miles cycling and an hour "of wiggle it just alittle bit"

Day 21 of 182

woke up with a hangover this morning.
sigh.

11.30am session 1 with my pt dan (fyi - pt stands for personal trainer)

was brilliant!
an hour and 20mins - sweating like mad but felt great.

treadmill, bike, stretches, weights, machines, medicine ball - FAB!

bit of tidying, washing, bottle bank, uni work, xx, a&the girls for tea, telly and now time for bed. forgot to go watch the fireworks for the new ship - heyho.

i'm thinking of lie in tomorrow, will do abit more uni work, then winchester for http://plancast.com/p/568u/prime-cuts-papercuts-related-prints katherine's exhibition.

Day 20 of 182

work work work, knackered.
rushed home, got into my P.E. kit then off the gym to meet dan for 5.30pm.

he's done me 3 workout sheets - we'll do one together and then i'll do x2 on my own during the week.
we'll do this for the 4 weeks before i go to usa.

how awesome is that?!

was hysterical as he's put in a couple of free weights exercises - felt like i should have called out "girl on the mat" as i walked into the free weights area at the gym.

so we shall see - my 1st proper session is 11.30am tomorrow morning.

my fitness regime will, from tomorrow consist of:-
  1. personal trainer once a week
  2. x2 additional workouts at the gym, minimum during the week
  3. zumba once a week
  4. about 30-40miles per week cycling (work and play)
should be well on schedule for loosing at least half a stone (that's 7lbs to my lovely american chums) before the states so i've got room for major scoffing and drinking.

very pleased.

Day 18 of 182

luckily today i covered the cantell health&wellbeing drop-in.
phew.
  • 6.3miles.
  • 55mins
then after work i met with dan at the gym - i've signed up for x4 sessions with a personal trainer!

in just over 4 weeks i'll be flying off to the usa - the land of pizza and ice cream. i desperately need to create some space in my tummy for quite alot of snacks and booze. 
  • i reckon i need to loose at least half a stone...

Day 17 of 182

hmmmm...

have done NO excersize - that idea of going for a run before work - hahahaha - did anyone actually think i'd be doing that?

so lets instead look at what i've eaten so far today:-
  • bowl of oats and luxury fruit mueseli (lidls) for breakfast & x2 pieces of toast and marmite with maybe 3 cups of tea and a glass of water
  • must have drunk about 8? maybe 10 cups of tea at work & a couple of glasses of water
  • ate an apple
  • lunch was a mound of spagetti with quorn mince/spinach/tomatoes/onions - YUM
  • plain chocolate hobnob (there was one left in the kitchen at work looking all sad and unloved)
  • peanut butter/marmite/basil and tomatoe sandwich
  • glass of squash
about to head off to the london hotel for an evening of drag queens and alternative comedy - wont be drinking as door money is going to breakout so there for work (although wont be claiming a penny for the night)

so mabes a couple of pints of diet coke and then walk home (actually more like a couple of white wine spritzers...)

Will be in the gym tomorrow & will be doing at least 6 miles of work related cycling.

Day 16 of 182

ok, don't quote me on this but i think i may have got an exercise regimen!!!

cycled 8.6 miles during work and then this evening went to the gym. that's 2 days running i've been to the gym. it's starting to feel like a regimen to me. and then throw in a personal trainer - seeing dan on wednesday for my free 20-30mins consultation - heck, great south run here i come!

(although i did run on the running machine for 5mins and nearly collapsed...)

no zumba tomorrow cos at the london hotel for the breakout fundraiser and i'm at bernard street no limits all day so no cycling either. hmmmm. i may have spoken abit too soon about having an exercise regimen.

i suppose i could go to the gym before work...

Day 15 - Weigh Day

2.5lbs have been lost - wahoooooooooooo

so far today has been great.
  1. Uni portfolio done
  2. Been to the gym
  3. Lost 2.5lbs
  4. Signed up for a personal trainer initial consultation @ 6pm this wednesday at the gym
and am now about to cycle up to P&K's

5.6 miles round trip - approx 45mins of cycling.

Day 14 - 24 weeks till the Great South Run

this will be in stages today as i'm off up to London this afternoon for a cuppa tea with the boys then yummy pizza in covent garden for Clare's 30th - http://www.fireandstone.com/pizza/coventgarden/index.asp then catching late train home so not sure what state i'll be in for posting!

operation fits & healthy today has been - a run over the itchen bridge and back - its actually 2miles not 3 as stated in previous posts, and i had to walk abit of it. took me just under 30mins.

will now do some gardening and housework before catching the train. reckon i'll be doing quite abit of walking later,  pimlico to covent garden has got to be a good 30mins...

ummm... i didnt walk from pimlico to covent garden in the end - had a cognac and tonic water with the boys and caught a cab instead & i'm not sure if the meander from covent garden to leicester square tube counts as a valid piece of great south run training either (bernie certainly doesn't think so)

aaah well. was a fabulous evening!

i did four cycle trips today of just over 2 miles in total - i could have walked to the London Hotel to talk Breakout with David the Manager but then it would have taken 10mins instead of 3...

Although when you walk you don't get oil smeared on your cheek which your colleagues then don't tell you about, instead you discover it some time later when you happen to be washing your hands and look in the mirror.

i did go to the gym this eve after stitch n'bitch  (i'll post a pic of my stitching tomorrow).

had a run on the treadmill - did 0.8km then my mobile went off so I slammed the emergency stop button while rummaging in my trackie bottoms desperately trying to get the phone out before it rang off.
everything was fine.
so then did another 0.5km. reckon i probably ran for about 12mins in total...

had a go on some of the machines - 5-8reps of quite large weights, then some floor work and stretches. Only there 25mins or so but really chuffed with myself for actually going.

i'm home now, had a shower then had chicken salad for supper. 
doing some uni work.

tomorrow is yoga and i'm also wondering if i need to actually run outside?
maybe i'll run over the itchen bridge and back... took me 35minutes on day 1 - might be interesting to see how long it takes me now & how many times i have to stop.

hmmmmm, i guess you'll just have to log on tomorrow eve to see if i do it or not.

No Limits have signed up for the Southampton Cycle Challenge - it's fab because i'm logging my trips each day so i can tell you exactly how much i've cycled... it's from the 9th - 29th May and i'm hoping i'll win lots of prizes (will keep you all posted)

10.9miles today:-
  • to and from Uni  (6.1 miles)
  • to and from Zumba (4.8miles)
and then of course i did Zumba - an hour of hurling myself about while "shaking" my hips.
Great fun!

All i can say is thank goodness I do alot of cycling for work. x4 trips, 8.6 miles in all - approx one hours worth of excersize & hills were involved.

Day 8 - one week down, 25 weeks to go... weigh day.

This time last week - operation fit and healthy started.

and during my 1st week of training i have managed to loose how much weight???
ABSOLUTLY NOTHING.

excersize may not be enough for the shedding of 40lbs. i may have to seriously look at what i'm eating (bummer)

excersize today?
  • 9am - went for a 1.3mile run.
  • not much else untill this afternoon & walked around ikea - does that count?

then home where i ate 3/4's of an easter egg... well maybe 4/5's.
hmmm... that's nearly 4 eggs consumed in just over one week.
i'm so going to have to seriously look at what i'm eating...


i do have an incredibly busy week ahead consisting of:-
  1. babysitting,
  2. zumba,

  4. yoga,
  5. out for pizza for a friend's bday,
  6. out for pizza (again) for another friend's bday,

Day 7 of 182

I am shattered!

today has been full on...

had a day pass to brighton's the gym with bernie. OMG. i'm way stronger and fitter than i realised. i was lifting 120lbs or more (well with my legs) and lifting 50-60lbs with my arms!!!!! totally and utterly gobsmacked. thanks coach b

was there for over an hour. definately have a much clearer idea of just what the heck i'm doing when at the gym. so hoorah.

we walked home. 
bernie frog marched me past a fabulous smelling patisserie (sp?).

shower, cup of tea, bacon sarney then off for a walk with bernie, sarah and their neighbour's dog peggy - along the sea front - out for a good couple of hours.
needless to say i am now absolutley knackered.

luckily all i've got to do for the rest of the evening is catch a bus to elsie's and then drink red wine.

will be running tomorrow.

Day 6 of 182

Today has not been a good day on operation fit and healthy.

Luckily I went for a 15minute walk with Bernie and Peggy otherwise today would have been one big blob.

Have just eaten some Easter egg - yum.

Bernie though has told me it's okay because we'll be doing loads of running tomorrow. Hoorah!

Day 5 of 182

i've just been to the gym. was touch and go for awhile especially as i spent 30mins or so chit-chatting to Rosie when i got home from work. she did point out that i'd had an extensive jaw work out but i decided that i really should go and actually work out.

so...

Cycle:- level 7
2miles, in 7mins 46secs

Treadmill:- level 7.5 (eventually)
0.5km in 4mins 48secs

Xtrainer:- level 7 (i think)
0.54 miles in 7mins 8secs

not bad...

then i decided to just have a go on some of the machines
  • hip adduction 40lbs, number 5 - 15 reps
  • hip abduction 40lbs, number 2 - 15 reps
  • calf press 40lbs - 15 reps (twice)
  • arm curl - OMG
    • tried 40lbs - couldnt move the bloody thing,
    • 30lbs - managed 7 reps,
    • so ended up on 20lbs and managed 10 reps.
  • tricepts ext - 20lbs easy peasy lemon squeasy so did 30lbs, 15 reps (but not really sure if did it right - should probs have asked one of the staff to show me how its done)
  • abdominal - 40lbs, 15 reps
  • then did some stretches and lunges with a big bouncy red ball
  • then did some stretches on the mat
  • then went home and had supper.
should really do some uni work now but all i want to do is read my book.

Day 4 - 178 days till I run 10miles...

today was mainly cycling - 11miles in all - 4.8 miles before work and then 6.2 miles after (up to Uni Shaz's for seminar prep and home made pizza which was totally awesomely delicious and, according to Shaz, really low in fat so absolutley fine for operation fit and healthy)

apart from that - yet more sitting around looking at a computer at work (NB - computer was on and I was doing loads of work)

its actually really quite lucky that i drink alot of tea so i get loads of excersize walking from my desk to the kitchen and back!

will go to the gym tomorrow.

Day 3 of 182

Tuesday evenings is Zumba!!

My class is at Taunton's (local college here in Southampon), 7-8pm. I  go with Katherine & Maisie & it is an absolute hoot.

I havn't really got a clue what I'm doing (Katherine & Maisie look as if they have more of an idea) but it's hysterical fun and an amazing work out. Plus it's getting easier which has got to be a good thing.

Our instructor is Beth - she's blinking awesome and has enough energy to light a small city.

Apart from that, i've done abit of cycling & quite alot of sitting today. Oh and then after Zumba I ate pizza, a fat free yoghurt and some of Pete's Easter egg (yum)

Day 2 of 182

okay... day two.

decided to go to the gym today - basically I'd found it really hard to move this morning due to my 5k little run yesterday so thought 30mins in the gym would help me to get mobile.

1. cycled - 2miles in 8mins
not bad, thighs were agony but felt that a couple of miles was a good solid start.

2. running - 0.5km in 5mins
hmmmm... could barely stand

3. Xtrainer - 0.5miles in 7mins
arms were pretty wobbly and could sense i was bordering on bright purple.

as this was my 1st proper trip to the gym http://www.thegymgroup.com/gyms/southampton/ I had a good old browse at all the machines. needless to say I haven't really got a clue. did some work on my core - thought that would be a good idea. basically I need to sort out a session with a personal trainer - someone who'll tell me what machines to use and how.

then I went home and did some gardening - pics to follow.

am now eating a bowl of pasta.

Day 1 of 182

okay...

I've signed up for the Great South Run - 30th October 2011.
I'd like to loose 40lbs and raise a thousand or so pounds for No Limits http://www.nolimitshelp.org.uk/

So far my training has consisted of red wine, chocolate, meals out and the odd bounce on my trampet.

Today - 1/5/11 - i have officially started my training.
5k run (and abit of walking) in 35mins plus 10mins on trampet to warm down.

By doing this blog i'm hoping it'll inspire me to continue my training, go to the gym, stop eating so much chocolate and ready salted crisps, cut back on the red wine and lose some weight. Lets see what happens...
