CLS day 5 - spa day

Again, didn't want to get over excited / carried away so started the day at the gym and 30minutes on the bike

Then had an adult breaststroke lesson and Aqua jogging. Lunch then the spa. And then some down time till supper and again we're all in bed by 9:20pm 🤣

Day 4 at CLS - still lots of pool based sessions

Again, taking it gently as it is only my 4th full day here but after deep water aqua fit then a 400m swim I went to the gym and did 20mins on the bike. My heart rate got up to 140, I went pink, I sweated and I looked dishevelled when I stopped. I'm so happy!!

I did though cancel the intermediate open water skills session at 5pm (went to the gym instead) as it felt a little chilly and I decided to wait to do OWS when I can comfortably swim 1km
Currently the furthest I've swim is 700m
But I did have a walk down to the lagoon and watched the session for a few mins before walking the long way round back to the flat

Now, how am I feeling?
Tired
Also the small of my back is a bit sore and my left glute is sore but overall I feel okay. I think currently I'm getting the balance right between wanting to do everything while recognising I can't x

First x3 full days at CLS

It's been awesome so far - but bloody hell it is such a different holiday than the one I'd been planning right up to 8:29pm on Saturday 15th July 2023!

As you can see - loads of pool based activities.

But it's also loads less activities than I would have done - with hardly any cardio, loads more rest and absolutely no running or cycling 😟

However the massage today 29/1 was amazing - head, neck and shoulders.
Plus yesterday I went for a 3.75km walk around the perimeter of club la Santa - beautiful but did have to have a little sit down rest after about 2.5km

The end of day 1 - stretch and relax 🤣

However, how can I begrudge the fact I'm having to do loads more water based activities?
Three 50m pools and the lagoon plus I've already done aqua jogging, deep water aqua fit and a both intermediate and advanced front crawl lesson.

I'll gently build up my endurance and just keep doing more and more.

How am I feeling? Any pains?
So far so good
Groin slightly sore but the rest of my soreness is due to being active which is wonderful

Flying to CLS 🥰

Another early start - I have not been sleeping well at all. Again, cannot wait for CLS

Waited for the free CLS mini bus
So warm
Jill and Lisa headed off in their taxi
Arrived CLS - AND RELAX!!

I didn't do any classes as so tired
So unpacked, waited for my app to work then had a snooze
Out for dinner after admiring the sunset
Bed by 9pm!!!

25/1/24 my birthday and off to Gatwick

Managed the x2 work days 23rd & 24th but crikey so so sooooo tired - talk about hanging on by a thread for club la Santa

But did enjoy our field trip to NOCs

Lovely birthday 25/1
Met Muts for lunch did some walking and packed
Then up to Gatwick to the premier inn for our early morning flight on Friday

Sunday 21 January 2024

Smashed it Saturday 20/1/24 - 7km of walking

Walked from No Limits on the Avenue and one loop of parkrun with Vik
Walk on Canada Common with Vik & Alison

Parkrun morning was 3km before I needed to sit for awhile - was very tired.
Walk in Canada common - approx 2km before I needed to have a sit down - approx 10mins

I am so excited for Club La Santa as I know I am getting stronger.

Is sick

I was so excited on Thursday 11/1

But by 12:45om on Saturday 13/1 I was feeling pretty rough and was in bed by 3pm. It's now Wednesday 17/1, day 5 of feeling rough and day 3 of being off work.

I have a feeling I've overdone it
Let's have a look at my step count for the last 7 days…

That's a lot of steps
Saturday I did 10,000 steps before noon for goodness sake. Yesterday I did feel abit more human so did some chores but then I got absolutely no sleep last night hence not at work.

My recovery is amazing and you'd of thought six months since being knocked off my bike I'd be doing good. I am. But I'm still needing to sit down and rest in the middle of a 3.5k walk. I am far from where I was this time last year when I was starting to ramp up my training for the Outlaw full Ironman.

I need to take a breath and be kind to myself.
Club La Santa really can't come soon enough!!

Goals for 2024

Club La Santa 26/1 - 9/2/24
Rejoin STC as a swim member March 24
Spring - Start cycling outside on my mountain bike
By the Summer - buy a new road bike via the cycle to work scheme (and then make sure i lock my shed door!!)
Sprint triathlon 1/9/24
Ashtead 10K 15/9/24

Those are my goals
To get back to running i need to be able to walk 5k - which made me laugh as currently i can manage about 3.7km before i need to have a good sit down and my time per km is approx 13:38 so def getting quicker
I will be walking parkrun this Saturday 20/1 so it'll be interesting to see how far i can go.

For running i need to get stronger
Ankles / Knees / Glutes
My pelvis is healed but all the muscles around it are weak

I do feel really excited about 2024 :)

Monday 8 January 2024

On the bus - not in the priority seat!

Day 2 back at work for 2024 and again - no stick!!

A I'm on the U1A and instead of stilling in the priority seat which I've done since August when I first got back onto a bus, I'm sat one row back and feeling rather epic.

#SlowlyCarefullyGently is starting to move that little bit quicker and it's wonderful. I'm feeling very excited / positive for 2024 xx

Welcome 2024 - 1st physio via drivers insurance

Am in an Uber off to Pure PhysioTherapy over near the airport for my first physio session paid for by the driver's insurance

I've been waiting for this since the 9th November so I'm very curious to find out what I'll be offered.

Thinking about 2024 I'd like to be fit and ready for the challenging events sprint triathlon 1st Sept - it's likely to be STC's club champs event and then the Ashtead 10k in the 15th September

#SlowlyCarefullyGently

So where am I fitness wise?

So still got a ways to go!
Hopefully my physio will include some PT sessions as well 🤞
