Circuits and Lakeside

20-25mins of circuits at Wide Lane then nipped to Lakeside - 3 laps

8.41
8.48
8.47

Approx 990m - 26.16

I could have easily of swum another two or three laps but got worried about my bike and bags. Which was just as well because Ellie got out at the same time :)

Cycled home, ate pasta/chicken/pesto and salad. Yum.

I have no idea how it'll go in two weeks time at the Lakesman - what I do know is that I'm really excited and quietly confident that I'll finish within the cutoff... I guess we'll know in less than three weeks if I do!!!

Whatever happens though I will be signing up for the Outlaw full IM.
If I get in then I will need a proper TP and I will need to follow it...

This evening though was super. Warm, sunny.
Wide Lane was lovely, the lake was magical

Wednesday 29 May 2019

Friday 24 May 2019

Musing on panic

I shouldn't be panicking as I'm in good shape but I am.
Swimming - will see how I do at lakeside tomorrow morning. I'm def slower than when I did Weymouth 70.3... 600m 15mins. But the swim is in a lake not a choppy currentie sea.

Cycle - def doing more. Need to get some tri bars
Also I'm not stopping so much to back pedal during sessions :)

Run - def stronger.

It's the 5hours to do the swim / cycle that I'm worried about...

So excited!!!

Wednesday 22 May 2019

Starting to think about the lakesman

It's three and a half weeks away.
I don't have much info on this time before Weymouth 70.3 as I was in total shock / melt down about it...

My ftp is back to where it was in Sept 2017. I'm not swimming as much but I'm doing more running.

Let's see how the next few weeks goes...

Tuesday 21 May 2019

73k bike ride / fuelling fail

Fabulous ride with Sue and Jenny this morning
73km 3:45
Average 20km per hour.

Decided to try the SiS Beta fuel that everyone's raving about.
Yeah, not for me. Tastes awful.
So then I had only one water bottle and a banana for the 73k bike ride.

So I'll be going back to water in my water bottles and proper food plus a few gels. Nutrition for the lakesman half IM all sorted!!

Monday 20 May 2019

Feeling strong

Great HB session - so wanted to just stop but I didn't. 83%
Just under four weeks till the lakesman half IM. I'm feeling okay about it. Eeeeep.
Ran to the Quays, used the gym - did the Cooper test - ran for 12mins - about 1600m but then had two mins of cool down which was added to all the numbers. I should have slammed the stop button at 12minutes. Will know for the future :)

Took swim gear to work but to busy at 6:30pm and I was pretty hungry

Bike ride tomorrow with Sue and Jenny

Friday 17 May 2019

That was a tough session!!!

Easier week!! 82%
Jeez that was tough
But I did it :)

7.33min run

Thursday jet washing and swim

The water looked so inviting down at Watersports today!
11:15 - 6:45pm

Then JSC - 21mins 800m
2:30 per 100m
I've got so slow...

K&S's for supper and red wine.
Another top day :)

Wednesday 15 May 2019

Easier week at HB

Decided it was def easier week when I got back this morning - hadn't even noticed I didn't take my towel out of my jacket pocket!
Good session
Got it done - felt bit not 100% but kept at it. Very pleased.

Monday 13 May 2019

Am on the mend...

Double training today
HB this morning - did lower my ftp by 5% for the last ten mins or so. Nearly finished but thought ooh just lower your ftp so you can finish the session :)
Also Jenny Penney's bday - and her 200th session!

Finished work 5pm as off to Ellingham with Pam and Katherine.
1200m in 35.20
Not nearly quick enough but I kept stopping, bit of breast stroke, took out my ear plugs, got bit confused with breathing. Not very focused.
But when I did get into my rhythm - wow - I was flying!!!!!!!
So actually very pleased - five weeks to get water confident. Must get in the pool at work.

Sunday 12 May 2019

No training / Barn dance instead :)

Yeah, got a cold so no raining this weekend.

Hove for Clare's bday barn dance. Awesome fun. Def got bit sweaty!

Will see how I do at HB tomorrow morning and then Ellingham tomorrow eve.

Friday 10 May 2019

Home from Yorkshire with a cold

So tired!
Have set my alarm for 7am - still planning on going for a cycle tomorrow morning but it could end up being a gym session. Will see how I feel when I wake up...

Thursday 9 May 2019

Great holiday / not so great training

Went for a run today - 5.7km in 37.23 with Tessa (R&K's Aussie lodger)
So that's two runs and 24 episodes of Star Trek Discovery in four days :)

And now I've got a cold.
Will rest till Saturday morning and then a two hour bike ride

As we can see - my week 5 training had stalled somewhat...

Tuesday 7 May 2019

Yorkshire fun times :)

Am in Yorkshire this week at Cousin Ruth's. So far so good!
Girls are at school, Jasper is playing in the garden and I've just got back from a 36min run with 15mins of stretching in the garden.

Yesterday was bluebells bluebells and more bluebells

Sunday 5 May 2019

Half of the Southampton half

What a fabulous day!!
Walked Amy to the Itchen Bridge as she's injured her knee so unable to run. Amy walked the entire half. Totally epic.
I had my cowbell with me so was able to whoop and cheer everyone and anyone - marshals, runners, dog walkers, small children...

As I started running over the bridge the half and full marathon lot were now on the bridge which meant I was able to cheer all the runners coming towards me. Was brilliant fun.
Saw so many mates both running and spectating. The Southampon 10k/half/marathon really is a fabulous day.

Was on my own a lot in Weston but that was fine as I had my cowbell :)

Saw the girls coming up the bride - A, Pam, B, Vik which was awesome.

Spent a good few minutes in the stadium then headed back to the start to get snacks and a top before going to find Karyn, Shaz and Sarah on London Road.

Was able to then whoop and cheer some more :)

Mettricks Guildhall for tea/cake after collecting the runners from Guildhall Sq.

I then headed home as off to Yorkshire on the 3:15pm train.

An absolutely fabulous day.

Walked 2miles
Ran 4.5miles
Jogged 2miles
= approx 8.5miles
1:58
Happy with that

Knee fine but it didnt hugely like the six hours on a train X

Saturday 4 May 2019

Endurance session / 36min ru

Fab day :)
Great HB session with a 36min run with Sue and Jenny

Jenny A and Suzanne competition g at the Aquabike world championships.
Mayfield nursery
Beltane

Fun

Friday 3 May 2019

Heart rate monitor all hooked up :)

Dawn left me a little gift in the studio this week - a heart rate monitor. I love it. Yet another number I can effect in the box :)

I can now change cadence and heart rate.

Then I went for a quick run to the quays - 10minutes. Felt great.

Six weeks to go!!!

Starting to ramp everything up another gear.
Need to get in a lake.
Need to cycle some longer rides
Running going well.
Starting to get bit sick with nerves.
I really love my sport :)

Wednesday 1 May 2019

FTP now 161

Seven weeks out from the Lakeman half IM - ftp is now 161. Felt fine. Of course wanted to stop but didn't. Am feeling really strong with my cycling.

Running? Well that's going okay. Will be fun to see how I do over the next few days through to Sunday.

Swimming? Well I'm getting in the pool. I need to check where I was with my swimming for Weymouth 7 weeks out as I nailed that swim. Need to replicate that for the Lakesman.
