Day 11 - 8k run

Really good 8k run although it was more like run 2k, pause for 20mins or so to drink a pot of tea and catch up with Silvia in Brazil, and then do a 6km run 🤗

The old 'caught short on a run and needing to use the nearest loo' situation 😂


Loved how the sun shimmered on the water

Finished the day back at David Lloyd using Shaz's guest pass. Some swimming was involved but also a lot of jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. I'm really quite tired so I obviously had a bit of a workout 💪

Start of week 2

Gentle start to this week with an hour of yoga and half an hour on the bike
This week is medium intensity so will be ramping it up from tomorrow 

Tomorrow is 8km run and cycling to, then swimming at David Lloyds

Then it's 4 days at work - tri club swim Wednesday eve, x2 gym sessions then drinks for Pam's bday so may need to gym / swim before working at 8am on Saturday 

Long bike ride Sunday - plan is 3 hours
My current 'out for a bike ride' km per hour seems to be 18-20. It needs to be 25km/hr

Week 1 is in the bag!!!

What a week!!!
9.5 hours of training which by close of play tonight will be about 10 hours as meeting K&S at David Lloyds this evening for a swim / sauna

3 times I nearly bottled it but each time I gave myself a little shake and a talking to and then did what I was supposed to do on my kitchen cabinet training plan

I don't want to get ahead of myself or cocky but if I can keep this up I'm going to smash the Outlaw full IM 🤗

And I loved my 3 hours bike ride this morning - cycled to Lepe Beach and back. Gloriously perfect cycling weather and company xx

Day8 of training

Excellent morning of training :
6.5km run in 45mins
1800m swim in 60mins

Feeling very positive.

Out this evening for drinks - great fun but wondering if I need to not drink now till I've done the Outlaw IM. Will see what Southampton Tri Club team mates think about it

Day7

Again, so very nearly  didn't go / couldn't be bothered / hungry for tea

But I did go
30mins of the elliptical 

I'm quite physically tired now after this first week of training but I'm also feeling mentally strong. 

If I wasn't training for an Ironman I wouldn't have done half the stuff I did this week. I'm really proud of myself for doing what my training kitchen door planner told me to do 🥳

Day5 - fabulous swim session

Day4

Eeeep, nearly didn't go to the gym!
Was so tired when I got off the train from Winchester at 7:40pm (was delayed)

But I gave myself another talking to, went to the Mayflower Gym and did 30mins of the elliptical 

Felt epic walking home 🤗🎉

Day 3 of LizzieGoesLong

Everything I've read and been told about training for a full Ironman has one key mantra - consistency consistency consistency 

Basically you've got to do your training every day and only miss one if you're ill 

I nearly fell at the first hurdle!!

Yoga at Jubilee Sports Centre ✅
Swimming afterwards  - just some drills and a 400m swim ✅ but OMG so nearly didn't go. 

I'm now feeling absolutely delighted that I know I can just follow the plan. Basically I've just got to do it 🤗

Also was fab in the pool as I did a timed 400m (16 laps) to get an idea of a time for 'swimming but not racing'

400m = 9 minutes
Which'll mean a 90minute IM swim 
I'd be happy with that 👍


I'm now about to start my 4 days on 8am - 8pm 
So tomorrow I'll go to the Mayflower Gym after work 
Wednesday is STC swim session
Thursday is Katherine's private view in Winchester 
Friday Mayflower Gym

Let's see how many ✅'s I manage.

Day 2 - London with Emily 19/2/23

Yesterday was awesome fun
Tate Briton, river boat to Tate Modern, bday cupcakes on the steps of St Paul, huge Waterstones at Piccadilly, Italian meal just by Waterloo.

Club La Santa day 4

It's 9:30pm and I'm in bed. 
That should tell you all you need to know about this place 😂


Lots of stretching
A front crawl coached session on the catch and body position 
The most amazingly fun dance class
Really interesting seminar on pain - hot/cold alternate 5mins of each, save ibuprofen for when pain is excruciating as if you can manage the pain your recovery will be quicker. Plus trick the brain to do more. 
And then more stretching 

Out for dinner and a little walk before the utter joy of bed by 9:30pm

Club La Santa day 3

Started the day open water swimming in the lagoon - skins - 1800m approx 45mins.
Felt fabulous but arms were getting tired so decided to stop

I'm feeling very positive though for the Outlaw if I'm happily doing 1800m before I've been started my training in earnest!

The rest of the morning was breakfast and a spa 🥰

Lunch then :


I am really tired.
I guess it's the constant doing something 
An excellent easing in to my training proper in a few weeks time. 

And FYI - I now have an idea what to do with the TRX 🤩 An amazing piece of kit that enables you to do pretty much everything. I'm now excited to try it when I'm next at Jubilee or Mayflower Gym

Club La Santa day 2 - 1st Feb 2023

First full day

Feeling awesome and tired


Track session - 4.6km 45mins 


Pilates - the instructor rolled back, rolled forward and stood up. I couldn't do this 😂😂
Luncheon on our sun terrace 
Senior (over 50) strength session
Practically fell asleep during stretch and relax
1500m 55mins in the pool - did a made up set:

200m pull
200m swim
100m pull
Then x5 
50m sprint / rest 15secs / 50m easy / rest 30secs 
Then 200m back / breast / some kick 
100m pull
100m swim
100m back / breast 

Felt great!!!!

Huge supper
Little walk 
Now drinking tea and eating chocolate chip cookies

My training proper starts w/c 20th Feb xx


Club La Santa day 1 - 31/1/23

Got out of the taxi at 12:45 and was checked in and having lunch with the girls by 1pm

Fabulous.

Got sorted with the app and got booking!!!


I am now a huge fan of CLS and I absolutely love their 50m pools 

Pilates/stretchy class - bit knackering 
1000m swim 28mins

Supper, wine and in bed by 9:30pm 😂

Winter Sun - the journey

I'm writing this from the sofa in our apartment at Club La Santa, Lanzarote. 
It's fabulous 

After work Monday 30/1 I caught the 7:18pm to Waterloo and was drinking tea with Pete and Nick in Pimlico by 8:40pm

Such a lovely catch up plus love my birthday pressie from them - ten steps to Nanette by Hannah Gadsby (loved her Netflix show)

Headed off to Victoria Station 10:15pm and was eating a Macdonald's on the train to Gatwick at 10:56pm

Basically I was going to sleep at the airport!

Spoiler alert - I manage an hour on a bench by Costa Coffee at arrivals North terminal 1:45-2:45am. I was starting to feel quite delirious but after my nap I felt so much better!!! I am now an even bigger fan of the nap 

Went though security at about 4am after walking around departures for awhile - both inside and outside. So peaceful. And smashed out the steps 😂

Charged phone, watched some YouTube, read my kindle and chilled. Then wahoooo - off to the gate for my flight to Lanzarote. Ate, read, snoozed and before I knew it - we landed. No luggage to collect so I was out of the airport and in a taxi to Club La Santa by 12:15pm

OMG

Lanzarote is beautiful.
