Loved it
Getting a tad stronger as lugging the huge hoses back to the cleaning shed was slightly easier today...

Night before the Winchester 10k

I'm feeling really excited about tomorrow - going to run / walk it with Sam from SRS. No idea how long it'll take... Maybe 70minutes?

So worked today at JSC 6:35-3pm
Then thought - cycle to Winchester. Get some training in. 11miles, 60minutes. Really pleased.

Drinks in the Old Vine, big Italian meal at Ask then back to the Premier Inn. In bed by 10:30pm. Alarm set for 7am

Oh and amazing chums. Birthday cake #4

Back at work :)

Luckily today is a rest day on my TP.
30-40min run tomorrow - am at watersports all day so will run tomorrow eve.
I'm 99% sure that taking yesterday off has meant I've managed to a vapid getting ill. I guess we'll know for definite over the next few days.

Figuring out ways to train smarter

So pleased about the cycling I was able to do this weekend.

Saturday's 20miles included cycling alongside the Basingstoke canal. Beautiful but not very practical - lots of pedestrians, some muddy bits. Still got to Ashtead though in just under one and a half hours.

Sunday - stayed on the A245 all the way to Woking. Much quicker - at least 15mins quicker.
Left debs 2:40pm, was on the platform at Woking by 3:55pm.
Caught 4:07pm train.
On bike leaving Eastleigh station by  5pm
Walking into my flat by 5:40pm
Three hour journey door to door.
20miles of cycling done
Absolutely delighted.
Had panniers and trainers so pace wasn't speedy - wasn't slow but def could have gone faster.

This has shown me a couple of things...

1. To think outside the box with training - how much more cycling can I do whenever, for instance, I think about getting the train...

2. A 15mile cycle is I think the Parkrun equivalent for cyclists. It's shown me I can do a lot more "a bit longer bike rides" without having to earmark hours for long training rides. Time in the saddle. Getting fatigue in the legs. Building endurance.

I'm starting to get quietly confident about my Lakesman half IM training :)

Saturday 16/2 week 1 run 3

59mins 4.5miles with Pammie
Chatted all the way

Cycled ro Eastleigh - 5miles
Train to Woking
Cycled to Ashtead - 15miles (approx 1:30)

Then loads of red wine at big sis's bday party :)

All I've done today is eat.

Everything was going so well
Ate a fabulous lunch - pork, mashed potatoes, veg leftovers from last night. Lots of fruit. Malt loaf.

Then when I got home I had frazzles a wispa, pita and butter and marmite. Then decided I was still hungry so had pork, pasta and veg. In fact the meal I should have had instead of the frazzles, wispa and pita. What a tit. Utterly hopeless!!!

Fingers crossed getting back into training will help as I slowly ramp it up to 10-12 hours a week. Eeeek. I'm going to have to find creative ways to see the girls whilst also doing lots of training...

Week 1 Run 2 :)

Alarm went off - I got up. Feeling rather epic.

38minutes around the city centre.
Nice and gently.
Feeling good. Did some walking but that was more mental as opposed to tired.

Seeing Shadow Factory at the Nuffield this evening.

Talking 70.3/full IM and Breakout :)

What a fabulous evening at The Cowherds.
STC club mates talking all things 70.3 and full IM - two hours just flew by.
Plus awesome that Breakout Ally, Jen, Neil and Andrew were also in the pub.
Bloody brilliantly evening.

Then home to Wincheters 10k race numbers and weekend planning with KAC dear chums.
Top top night.

31k ride in the forest - love my new bike :)

We were a bit concerned with the weather but in the end it hardly rained at all, the sun came out and it was cold but not silly windy.

Jenny and I managed 31km in 1:37
I'm happy with that as we're only going to get faster. Currently that's the speed I was at with Weymouth 70.3 back in Sept 2017. Approx 20km/ph
I need to up that to at least 23km/ph. I think that's very doable. That would be a sub 4hour bike leg.

Used Jenny's hose pipe to clean off  the bike. I need to get into that habit!!

Am tired but def feeling good about my cycling.

Needless to say - I'll  be getting a new helmet soon :)

Tea, Brunch, XX. Fabulous Saturday

Met the girls at Tudor house then cycled to A's for brunch. Then spent the rest of the day with XX.
What a fabulous Saturday :)

Cadence monitor :)

Last couple of days before training starts :)

Hurtbox with a cadence monitor. Loved it.
I especially love the fact my rpm is a lot higher than I thought it was :)

Got cycling down - just need to up my long rides and ease up my ftp so I get stronger.

Running - my TP starts Monday

Swimming - need to get in the water

Tough HB session

We all made it - me, Jenny, Andy but it was tough! What I'm loving is the always peddling during the effort parts whereas before I'd be back peddling for half the session. It'll be interesting to see how it is in nine weeks when my ftp is 164...

New to me Boardman bike!

Got me a new bike :)
Jenny and I went for a spin this morning - 25k, mabes 80-90mins.

It's smooth, quiet, fast and really really clean!
I love it.

Missed Sat 2nd Feb!!

Can't believe I missed blogging about my first escape room!!

Gorgeous walk - a good 45 mins. The Peak Dustrict is beautiful.

Escape room in Derby, we didn't escape but boy was it fun.
Garden centre.
Chilled afternoon - England beat Ireland in the six nations.

Amazing meal.
Taskmaster games.
Booze
Charades.
Fun.

The end :)

I feel as if my actual bday celebrations for 25/1/69 have officially finished.

Started with fiddler on the roof.
Finished with the Super Bowl :)

3-0 half time Super Bowl LIII

What a game - it's all defence and it's awesome!!

Huge breakfast, lovely walk, very chilled day. And now LA Rams v New England Patriots.

Have done hardly any exercise but eaten my body weight in crap. I'm actually looking forward to starting my half IM training :)

200th HB session & off to Derbyshire

200th Hurtbox session!! Amazing.
It was a tough session as still stiff/sore from yesterday's jet washing. But only rested / back-pedalled during recoveries. It'll be good to keep peddling all the way through but I think we're a little way away from that.
Cove has shut so Sue and I checked out the new coffee stop on the main road. Really large mug of tea so I'm a fan!

Coach to bham - loads of snow on A34 but gone by just past Oxford so no delay into bham. Bloody train to Matlock through is 23 mins late so I'll be late after all. Aaah well.

Can't wait to see everyone.
Have brought a lot of warm clothes for bracing walks.
