Today has been a good day

Delighted with today :)
I had a spa day with chum A for my bday and it was wonderful. Back massage and facial - I could of happily have had that treatment twice. Sooooo relaxed.

Then the gym. I sweated. I got my heart rate up. I walked briskly on the treadmill, used the machines, loved the cross trainer. Very very happy. Great luncheon. Lovely swim, sauna, steam room and kindle reading through till about 4:45pm.

No small paddles in decathlon but bumped into Pam looking at warm coats. I love bumping into mates when you're not expecting to see anyone. Makes everything so much better :)

Co-op for berries for breakfast, made Slimming World friendly supper then caught up on a bit of tivo from the weekend.

But mainly today has been about going to the gym and properly working out. So so sooooo happy.

Yay for scarring tissue knitting ligament back together :)

Well, that's what the consultant thinks may have happened with my ankle and the moonboot. He reckons I can get back doing everything I was doing pre thunder run injury - gently does it at first and no running on uneven surfaces yet. If ankle does turn then go back to GP, do another referal and he'll operate. He doesn't want to do surgery unless really necessary as surgery has its own risks what with blood clots, infection and ankle potentially losing flexibility...

It's a watch this space. But I'm feeling so much happier :)

And then this evening noticed an email from Ironman to say 25 spaces left for Ironman UK in July this year. I'm obviously not signing up for 2016 but I'm hugely tempted to do it in 2017.

Early days, gently gently but I'm excited for what I may be able to do this year. As opposed to being sad for everything I've had to defer or cancel.

Farewell Moonboot xx

The Moonboot is no more!
It's now time for physio and rehab.

Although both physio Sam and I can't quite understand how my flippie flappy ruptured ligament could possibly have reattached itself to my ankle in these last 8 weeks. I guess we'll find out next week when I see my consultant :)

It's fabulous though to be told I can go to the gym, I can work out and even gently power walk on the treadmill. As physio Sam said, if I wasn't a sportswoman I'd manage perfectly fine without this ligament.  I'm not in pain, I can cycle and get about. However, I want to do at least one ironman, plenty more half ironmans plus more marathons. There ain't no way I'll be able to do that unless my ligament plays ball.

So I reckon it could be surgery then time off to recover while sprawled on my sofa watching Netflix.

Ideally by this time next week I'll know exactly what's going on :)

Musings from the Moonboot

If I was a singer songwriter I'd have three hit albums by now - Rocking the Moonboot, Musings from the Moonboot and now Melancholy Moonboot. Sadly I'm not a singer songwriter so instead of a string of sold out concerts jetsetting all over the world I'm sat in my armchair listening to music and staring at my moonbooted right leg.
Siiiigh.

Physio next week and an appointment with my consultant the week after. I'm back at slimmers world and swimming at least once a week with tri club. Making small changes to try and get back into the OF&H groove.

Can I just say that being injured really sucks. Six months since Thunder Run and my over excited night-time 10k run that netted me my ruptured ligaments.

I just want to go for a run!!!!!!

** who'd of thought I'd be wishing for that a few years ago :) **

Patience. Just gotta be patient.
