Meds :(

Sadly the meds today decided to not play ball and gave me a dodgy tummy. Finished HB session early, called in sick from work and didn't leave the house. Was okay in the end but def glad I wasn't behind reception all day...

Did sausage casserole and substituted mashed cauliflower for mashed potatoes on the shepherds pie.

Also watched a lot of being diabetic on YouTube.

Don't think I'll be jet washing tomorrow which is gutting but need to take this all one day at a time and get used to it. That's two weeks of jet washing I've missed now. Not happy at all.

Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow and maybe even go for a run

Fabulous weekend of Football - tough HB today

Packers through to the NFC Championship game at the 49ers next week. Tired but elated.
HB was tough this morning - 24 45second sprints. Yeah, did some but not all plus still bit chesty so breathing hard - went down by 10%

About to start work...
Week commencing Monday 13th January - lets do this!

Friday, 10 January 2020

Def feeling better / better choices required though...

HB was 15% down but did it and very glad I went and kept going.

Struggled with supper as microwave not working at work so ended up at the shop - my choices of cheese and ham roll, bacon wheaties, twix...  really not type 2 diabetes friendly :(

Early days.

Then home to my NHS medical exemption certificate.

A long week!!!

HB Monday 6/1/2020

Flagging
Not 100%
Was hard!!!

In fact I ended up leaving work 15mins early, sent apologies to STC as missed committee meeting then called in sick Tueaday so missed XX's adoption day meal and then woke up this morning still not perky so cancelled Hurtbox and called in sick again.

Fingers crossed I feel fine tomorrow (9/1)
I have at least just showered and got dressed so def feeling bit better :)

Badgers Farm CC6 4.5miles, 1:03

Operation Fit and Healthy is baaaaack!!!!
New decade, new diagnosis, new challenge.
***reaches for cowbell*** I've got this!!!!

Pam's fist ever xcountry race.
STC had enough runners so I changed into my LRR tshirt and ran with Pam.
Loved it. Was a clear morning so we were able to appreciate the amazing views!!!
Pretty much last but great fun.

New decade, new diagnosis & the Americans came to play.

That redone blood test just before New Years... It was to re-check my blood sugar level.
GP phoned me Tuesday 31/12/19 - I'm type 2 diabetic.
Eeeep.
But not sure how bad - saw diabetic nurse on Thursday 2/1/20 after jet washing.

My Haemoglobin A1c level...
Normal is up to 47
My number 22/6/15 was 35
My number 16/12/19 was 60
My number 30/12/20 was 64

Oh boy.
Lizzie type 2 diabetic Carter at your service.
Needless to say bit in shock and doing a lot of googling 'endurance athlete and diabetes - what to eat'.

Am now on Metformin 500mg tablets - need to get up to two twice a day. Am now on one twice a day so def getting there.

And while getting my head around this - Barb, Roggie and Blanche came through to Southampton Friday - Saturday :)
Arrived Friday 1:30pm - off to Premier Inn then walked to Bargate, souvenir shop, church with no roof, QEII anchor, Gods House Tower, Dancing Man, Kutis, Brewdog. The Saturday Tudor House for tea cakes and scones with Taco Bell lunch before waving them off at central station.

Finished with Little Women at Harbour Lights.
Only bought a small bag of malteasers.
I have lot to get my head around.

Welcome to the 2020s xxx

Nov/Dec 19 update :)

Wow, I haven't posted for over two months!!

So gentle readers, I last left you giving up the will to live at the Stroud half marathon back at the end of October 2019.
I then went away with my wonderful family to The Freeth and spent a week eating, drinking, swimming and hanging out with mum, sis, brother, cousin, brother in law, sister in law and my six gorgeous nieces. Loved it. Managed a 4K run in about an hour.
So unfit. So not feeling the Portsmouth Coastal Marathon just before Christmas...

Managed to get out running with tri club buddies Sue and Jenny plus running buddies Shazza and Pammie. Also plenty of Hurtbox. But still not confident about the PCM. Mainly the Sunday long runs as I was away a lot, or playing. Not doing those long runs...

17/11/19 - Gosport half marathon. A chance to see where I was.
Loved it.
But we did the Gosport 10k not half marathon in 1:25

Next weekend was Marks belated 50th bday party - awesome fun, loads of curry but didn't run on Sunday even though I love Ashtead common

Next weekend we did run - the turkey tinsel trot at Porchester Castle. Three laps, 10.5k in 1:29 - again awesome fun with the Hurtbox team of me, Sue, Kelly, Carl and Jenny. Could I have done another lap? Well it was tri clubs Christmas / Awards night Saturday night so maybe not!!

Next weekend - yay managed a run with Pam 10k 1:17 but then up to London for the Electric Landladies with Claire and Linda then the Golf Club Christmas huge lunch with Mum and the Peacocks.

And then it's the week before the PCM and after work on Saturday it's over to Hove for our KAC Christmas - loved it but no running.

Needless to say... The lovely Ben T from LRR bought my place - he smashed it on Sunday 22/12 while I park ran on Saturday for Sarah's 250th and Jo's bday then solstice party. Sunday morning lie in. Then pub with Charlotte and Bike Guy.

And then, BAM it's Christmas week!!!!!

Two fabulous Hurtbox sessions
Ashtead for carols and mince pies at St Georges then Christmas Day with mum and all the Peacocks -  a fabulous fabulous day!! Boxing Day recovering - three films with the Peaococks
Then OMG up to London as Barb and Roggie over from Mpls/St Paul with Barbs mum Blanche, Roggie's mum and dad Jerri and Al plus Tom and Kane meeting up with Matt and Luc. I got to hang out Friday and Saturday. Catered meal at their awesome air b&b along the canals in Angel, Harrods, brunch at some fancy restaurant near kings cross then Sketch for an expensive couple of glasses of red before back to Southampton.

Sunday drinks with the Coven then I'm back to work :)
Those three days - absolutely awesome!!

Redo blood test on way to work Monday morning
Dinner at Charlotte and Caroline's
Tuesday - New Year's Eve!!! Last day of the decade. Wow. It really was the millennium just the other year...
Brewdog.
Brilliant.
Wine, pizza, laughter, resolutions, friends, fireworks. Kinda perfect really.

And then it's 2020!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
