Summer Season update so far...

Well...

Tuesday 28/3/17 - the first lordshill magic mile of the season 9.04.67. Due to not really chatting to anyone during the run I did a great time! Then I was one of the timekeepers :)

Sunday 9/4/17 - the Brighton marathon - yikes, this was a lot tougher than I thought it would be. Yes it was really hot but I had my STC buff/ruff which I dunked in the water cups so it kept me nicely cooled. I was thinking I'd go sub six hours, I felt awesome. And then my feet got hot and started to hurt. After my mile 14 picnic lunch with chums - so wonderful to eat something solid! I then struggled. I'd done 14 miles in 3hours but the next 12 miles took me FOUR hours!!! Just felt like I was running barefoot on pebbles. Awful. Still love it but it was tough and hurt a lot. The finish line was even more special :)

My recovery though was fab. I'm def getting stronger and fitter.

Wednesday 19/4/17 - RR10 #1 at Victoria country park. I bloody love the RR10s so was super excited to be running. Felt great. Really strong. Chatted to loads of chums and thanked every marshal. At 25mins my left knee felt niggerly. Bit sore. So decided to call it a night as running Sunday so cheered and whooped everyone finishing. I think I love spectating just as much as running.

Sunday 23/4/17 - I finally got to run the Southampton half marathon. Did London in 2015, just out of the moon boot in 2016 so 2017 would be my first Southampton half. Loved it. So many running / tri buddies to chat to before the start. Then settled at the rear of the pack and had a very gentle start. Felt fine. Chatted, whooped at each mile marker and thought - brilliant, this is going to be awesome. By mile four my left knee was sore :( aaah well, I just took it slowly, walked a bit, chatted to everyone, thanked everyone and basically had a fantastic time. It just hurt a lot more than it should have. Boo. But that did make the finish even more special. Bloody hell - lets just say when I screamed out MILE THIRTEEN and whooped loudly it was like I'd woken up the crowd. We then had the best time as I jogged to the finish. Brilliant brilliant fun. Plus I had the added bonus of tri club buddies Suzanne and Aaron at the finish cheering me home. I really love my triathlon club.

And now?
Well I'm tired, sore, knee still hurts a bit and I am hobbling about as if I'm about twenty years older. But I'm sure by tomorrow I'll be fine or at least nearly fine.

Just got to figure out what to do about my knee. I reckon it's the IT band - a classic case of runners knee. Bummer. Good job I don't have the Winchester sprint triathlon next Monday then the swashbuckler middle distance tri 21/5. Oh wait...

Yay, the RR10s have started!

#1 at Victoria Country Park.
I did one lap and then decided to call it a day as my left knee started to hurt and i've got a half marathon to run on sunday.

But the one lap i did do was brilliant fun :)

And i'm very pleased with my 30mins of running.

Then food and wine with Ita and Mike. Perfect end to a wonderful evening x

Race day!!!

In all the excitement i forgot to update my blog :)

Well it's 7:35am and i'm on the number 5B to Brighton. Bit nervous.

Weather is gorgeous, i've got suncream in my bum bag, along with a banana, jelly babies and a natural bar.

I'm hoping for a sub six hours. Tummy is starting to churn. Eeeeep. I can't wait x

Round the common with Abel and Holly Dog. Perfect running weather then back for supper, cake, wine.

A great way to pre start my Brighton marathon weekend :)

It's Taper Time :)

Well...  With the Brighton marathon this Sunday it's time to taper

Saturday was tri club swimming which was awesome. Coach Huw got us doing loads of sets
100m 2.04.25
200m 4.24.13
150m 3.15.74
100m 2.08.28
100m 2.12.66
50m 1.01.65
50m 1.02.31
50m 1.03.87
50m 1.03.12
25m 27.86
25m 31.30
= 23.30.21 900m
Great session.

Then Jenny, Suzanne and I had tea at John Lewis. Great start to the weekend.

The bike ride to Romsey though with Ellie, Lou, Howard and Dave wasn't so succesful!! Hilarious - absolutly pissed it down. We basically cycled about three miles to a pub in Lordshill to drink tea and eat chips then cycled home. See pic below x

Scary jumpy film Get Out with Vik, Pam and Karen then Vik and I drank some alcohol in the London to calm our nerves. Taper = so far so good.

Sunday i checked out the new Lidls in Woolston with Vik. Then cooked roast chicken and ate roast chicken. That was pretty much all i did Sunday. Quite tired.

Monday was brilliant fun. No Josh so Lizzie Run Leader Carter armed with a free whistle that she got at one of the many lgbt prides she's  been to over the years took group A onto the common to do intervals.

20/30/40/30/20 seconds of hard running with a good 120 - 140 seconds recovery between each run then three mins recovery before doing it all again.

Then 60seconds of hard running, three mins rest then another 60seconds of hard running. Cool down jog and stretches. Loved it.

Swimming was tough!
6x 200m of various swim sets then drills.

And now it's today Tuesday 4th April. I didnt get home from work till 6:15pm so decided not to go to strength and conditioning at tauntons college. But i did go to Hurtbox which was tough! I had to get fast James to lower my ftp to 140 :)

I'll do a 30-40mins run tomorrow eve then it's all nice and gentle until wahoooooooo - twenty six miles here we come!!!!
