Njjewt update plus half ironman update and fundraising page.

Right, two days left of njjewt and I'm absolutely delighted to be able to update you all that it's been and continues to be a total success. I have in the last 29 days had zero crisps and chocolate, one bite of a cake after the RR10 marwell zoo run and half a bag of jelly tots bought while on our 36mile bike ride in Weymouth checking out the bike course.

We got lost.

My training? Has that been as successful I hear you all ask...

Well, since my last post I've done:-

Swimming: 1800m + 2050m
Stationary bike: 60mins + 50mins + 20mins
Regular cycling: 10.12miles + 29.32miles + whatever I cycled today and yesterday (approx 8 miles)
Running: 1:30 8km ish
Boxing: one session

So I've def done some training but I certainly need to keep going to everything as the half ironman is now less than 7 weeks away.

I've also decided on which charity I'll be fundraising for...

I've gone for Breakout Youth - a charity that has been dear to my heart for over 21 years.

Njjewt moves into it's final week

Njjewt continues to be fabulously successful. I will be carrying this over to August as nmjaewt - which of course stands for not much junk august except when training.

Hey no judging people - I'm holidaying on the iow with big sis, bro in law and the nieces - there will be junk to be consumed in at least the first week of August :)

Half ironman training - must get my head around it, especially the nutrition, sea swimming and cycling. Oh and upping my running would be good too...

I intend to start training in earnest from tomorrow - Fifty days people, it's now fifty days to the half. Eeeek...

Nearly quit

Swimming this eve - was struggling, and just not feeling it. Then I started to panic about the half ironman and how I was going to manage the swim. Then started to wonder why on earth I was doing this as all I wanted to do was go home and watch tv.

And then I just kept swimming.

Just under an hour later, training was over and I'd swum 2.2k. Maybe I can do the half ironman afterall...

Njjewt going well. Plus lost 2lbs last week :)

Njjewt is still going strong, I however am shattered!

Sprawled in my armchair, feet resting on the saddle of my stationary bike, digesting my supper while watching the TdF trying not to fall asleep. I am utterly shattered and with just 57 days to the half ironman I have a feeling this is a state i'm just going to have to get used to!

Siiigh.

But njjewt is going great guns. I think 18 days without chocolate is probably the longest chocolate drought of my entire life. You really can do pretty much anything if you put your mind to it, are in the right frame of mind and life doesn't throw you a curve ball :)

Off to kent tomorrow for a road trip road trip road trip with mate Bernie. Should be a hoot.

Njj day 15 - am at the half way point

And I'm still doing fine. In fact my luncheon meal deal from the coop today was a salad, pineapple chunks and an apple juice, instead of my usual which was becoming a bit of a habit. The chicken, stuffing and red onion sandwich, ready salted walkers crisps and a smoothie.

Decided not to lake swim this morning as still a bit tired. I did though hop on my stationary bike for 10mins.

Went to boxing this evening - so glad to be back. Sweat dripping off me - could feel it dribbling down my legs. Great workout. Then did 17mins on the stationary bike when I got home.

I also updated my everyclick fundraising page on my work's everyclick webpage. Finally got all of this years events listed.

Blimey I've been a busy girl!!!

Some musings on my first ever Olympic distance triathlon.

I'm hoping to write a race report but I'll give you some of my conclusions from Sunday's Olympic tri in Weymouth.

1. I need to do more sea swims - tide and waves were brutal.
2. I need to do more cycling - if fitter I'll be able to claw back time from swim and run.
3. I need to get stronger - I nearly dropped my bike in T2 cos I was so knackered with flippy floppy arms.
4. I need to be fitter.
5. Even knackered I still enjoyed it.
6. I love eating a huge meal after competing.
7. I loved my Miche massage this morning even more than usual.

So plenty of food for thought.

My own timings
1500m sea swim 56.42.87 but I must have swum at least 2k and trod on a jelly fish.
T1 5.24.60 but that was from the beach to getting on bike.
23mile cycle 1:58.02 but need to work on nutrition - more gels taped to bike will be needed.
T2 1.28.70 - I had to sit down to put my trainers on cos so tired.
10k run 1:23.03 - such a pretty run through the nature reserve. But boy oh boy was I utterly cream crackered by the end. Had to walk up the hill.

I of course did much whooping when I finished. Love finishing. It's such an amazing feeling of total achievement.

Biggest learning though... I should have spent at least 10mins stretching - I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been so stiff this morning if I had :)

Great day out.
Today was massage, commuter cycling, work, gardening, TdF highlights and now bed.

8 weeks to the half ironman. Eeeeek :)

Njj - day before my first ever Olympic distance tri

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!

I'm in bed, my alarm is set for 3:45am and I'm all packed. Just got to get some sleep now...

Parkrun this morning:-

1k - 6.11.34
2k - 6.52.66
3k - 6.03.44
4k - 6.48.06
5k - 5.56.54

Total time = 31.52.04
Parkrun official time 31.42

Was very hot.
I really hope tomorrow in Weymouth isn't as hot as today!
